Heidi The Herdwick Two Day Workshop Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May 2024
Join me for a two day workshop to make this beautiful Herdwick sheep in the lovely village of Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.
The numbers will be limited to 6 so you will get plenty of one-to-one tuition.
In this workshop you will learn:
· How to work with wire armature
· Getting your proportions correct
· Building a firm body and thin legs
· How to make clay hooves and attached them
· How to make, shape and texture clay horns
· Layering a gorgeous coat and mixing colours
· Defining the face and eyes for the Herdwick look
· Create a beautiful piece for you to keep or sell in your own business (commercial selling conditions apply, please see terms and conditions)
This workshop is for someone who has done some needle felting before and has worked with wire armature once or twice as it will help you understand how to needle felt around wire. Please do ask me if you are unsure if you have enough experience and I can help you decide.
The workshop days are from 9.30 to 4.30pm with a break for lunch (not provided) and other shorter breaks as and when they are needed. You will be supplied with everything you need, matts, needles, all the wool, clay, glue etc.
You are more than welcome to bring your own mat and needles though as the mat provided will be a large foam one. A clover pen with two 40 triangulars will help speed your work up and I will have some for you to purchase on the day if you wish to, but this is not essential.
You may not completely finish your piece as attaching all the coat does take time, but you will definitely have the knowledge and the wool needed to go away and complete it with confidence.
All drinks (tea, coffee, cold drinks) will be provided and some afternoon snacks but please bring your own lunch on both days. There are plenty of shops nearby, lots of bakeries and a large Co-op right by the venue. You do need to pay for parking and it is 4 pounds per day, I will send you more details when you book but the car park is large and right beside the venue. There is disabled access and facilities if needed at the venue too.
Any special dietary requirements for the snacks and drinks, please let me know in advance, I am more than happy to accommodate. My son is coeliac so I completely understand cross contamination and other allergy concerns.
With regards places to stay, Air BNB has plenty of local accommodation and I can guide you a bit but as I haven’t stayed in them myself, I can’t speak from experience. Contact me if you wish to know more.
This course is for ages 16 and up, please do not bring any children or dogs as I am not insured for this.
Full payment is expected at time of booking to confirm your space, I cannot reserve spaces. A confirmation email will be sent to you once you have purchased.
By paying for this course this confirms you have read and agreed to the terms and conditions below.
Venue Address: Holmfirth Methodist Church, 104 School Street, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, HD97EQ 9.30am to 4.30pm.
